We have discussed why it is a great idea to choose aerospace engineering but we have yet to discuss what exactly you will do when you are an aerospace engineer. The job is quite complex so you may end up doing something outside the realm of what are standard aerospace related tasks. At TSTI, we can help you become more knowledgeable about the job before you spend the next four years chasing after your dream.

Duties

As an aerospace engineer, you may end up doing research on materials that are used in the construction of aircrafts. You could also be analyzing the integrity of said aircraft’s integrity. You could also be designing control panels in fighter jets or the guidance systems for missiles. Test flights depend on your research and coordination. You have to document your findings so that the actual flight goes off without a hitch. And, like Howard Wolowitz, you could end up engineering space vehicles that may end up on other planets.

Outlook

Because of the advancements in technology, we believe that the field of aerospace engineering is only going to become better. Study.com shows that the projected growth from 2012 to 2022 is only about 7% but this is just an estimate. There could be such a significant advancement that could shoot that number through the roof, so don’t get discouraged. For now, work hard and beat out the competition.
