Atmospheric windows are the wavelengths that are 80%–100% transmitted through the atmosphere. The most notable atmospheric windows are the visible, infrared, and radio wavelengths. If your payload uses or senses EM radiation from the planet, it’s important to choose a portion of the EM spectrum that’s within one of these windows.
