Any combination of solid and liquid propellants and oxidizers that burn to produce thrust. Typically, a solid fuel burns with a liquid or gaseous oxidizer. They combine the flexibility of a liquid rocket engine with the simplicity of a solid rocket motor. One combination that works is rocket-grade hydrogen peroxide (HTP) with rubber (HTPB).
