GEO

A geostationary orbit (GEO), is a circular orbit with an altitude of approximately 35,862 km (22,284 mi) above Earth’s surface and having a period of the same duration and direction as the rotation of the Earth. This orbit also has an inclination of zero degrees, placing it in the Earth’s equatorial plane. An object in this orbit will appear stationary relative to the rotating Earth. Communications and weather satellites are usually placed in a geostationary orbit.
